"Art is to the Artist, what faith is to the Priest; 'it' is not what one does in an act or speak in a thought of a word... 'it' is that which one lives and knows in heart and defines one's very existence and understanding of the world."
Gavion E. Chandler~
'Man is his own Devil.
Greetings and welcome. I am Gavion E. Chandler and I am a playwright and an artist. In all my mannerisms of my art I contemplate and ponder "Man'... that 'human thing of a spirit that intrigues me to no end and yet confounds me in every piece of my person and being... knowing simply that promise of 'Man' to be great; in that simple and ever so treacherous thing of a promise where wonders and horrors are to be known and found; that sobering reality of such truth that awaits us.
It is in such truths I come to paint in word,, in thought and an myriad of images. In my art I come to explore the world and thought of 'Man' and with best intentions to cast in reflection those social dynamics that come to ripple throughout the many spectrum of Man's own reality, in the hope that the onlooker will for a moment pause, ponder and contemplate such thorns and pebbles that prick and waken soul spirit born creatures such as us.
As you come to enter my world of my thought and visions, I would ask you only to ponder the possibility of truth that would be of you, and the world and myself and know that there is beauty and darkness to be found in every breath of life, for where there is hope, fear and doubt are to be found as well is hope to be known in fear and darkness; each would be kin born of kin and reflects that simple human equation that riddles this world of dreams of dreams with so many possibilities.
I do not offer or promise answers; that would be too presumptuous of me. I offer simple and honest inquiries of thought with no thought of apology or regret. Truth is simply truth as 'Man' is simply 'Man' each a creature of a beast unto itself, each consumed with itself and its own existence of being. Man and Truth, fight, pray, scrape and claw to be known and never to be forgotten.
In my art and its many forms words, and visions you will find my own devils and angels of sorts, where I am mad with the world and dreams of man. It is a precarious world to travel, but I promise you that it will engage, intrigue and just might make you angry or shudder at the thought of a possibility, that is the purpose and nature of art; to have us ponder our humanity at its best and at its worse, If we do not then we come to be our own devise of our own undoing.
I wish you well and I hope you enjoy my art and thank you for your patronage.
